mechanical keyboard and mechanical switches.

Hello, readers of my blog.

This post is going to be a bit different from the regular posts.

In this post, I’m going to be talking about mechanical keyboards and mechanical switches.

When you think of a keyboard you would probably think about the office kind keyboard made by Dell or HP.  Those are called membrane keyboards. These kinds of keyboards are like the simple kind of keyboard that a lot of companies use. These kinds of keyboards have a mushy feel when you press it. Membrane keyboards work by pressing over a rubber dome over a metal board. Then the pressure from the rubber dome then activates a part of a board which then is recognized as a letter, number, symbol, or function. But the process of a mechanical keyboard is different. Mechanical keyboards consist of a thing called mechanical switches. These things a singular switch that activates individually. Then the switch then activates the board and then is reconised as a letter, number, symbol, or function. But the thing is that there is a big range of different types of mechanical switches. The most common types switches are Linear Switch(Red), Tactile Switch(Brown), or Clicky Switch(Blue). The main brand of mechanical switches comes from a company called CHERRY. Their main line of mechanical switches are called Cherry MX Red(Linear), Cherry MX Brown(Tactile), and Cherry MX Blue(Clicky). But there are also a bunch of different types of other kinds of switches called Cherry MX Clear(Tactile), Cherry MX Silver(Linear), Cherry MX Black(Linear), Cherry MX Green(Clicky), Cherry MX Silent Red(Linear), and Cherry MX Grey(Tactile). But there are other companies that make their own type of mechanical switch such as a company called Logitech. Currently they have made three mechanical switches. They are called Romer-G Linear(Linear), Romer-G Tactile(Tactile), and GX Blue(Clicky). These are similar to the Cherry MX switches but their are kinda like thier own. The things that makes Romer-G switches their own is that thier activation force is less than the standard Cherry MX switches. So basically their faster. But of course there are a bunch of knock-off comppanies such as Kailh, Otemu, and Lightning Strike. These imitation switches are very similar to Cherry and Logitech switches but they are ment for cheaper mechanical keyboards. But there are also another type fo switch coming and that is called an Optical switch. Which basically is a lazer that is hot through the internal body of the switchand when the lazer is interupted by the activation of the switch, the switch then activates and is reconised by the board and circuting in the keyboard. That’s all my knowledge on mechanical keybaords and mechanical switches. If I missed anything then comment on this post and if you know more than me then you can comment on this post too.

That’s gonna be all for this post. On to the next post…
